Abstract:

On 17 May 2006 the Minister for Employment, Training and Further Education requested the Chief Executive of the Department of Further Education, Employment, Science and Technology (DFEEST) to conduct a review of the Training and Skills Development Act 2003, with the aim of revising the legislation to ensure that there is robust consumer protection for apprentices, trainees and students, and that there are appropriate mechanisms for effectively handling disputes between parties to contracts of training.
