ACT jobs and recovery plan

[Coronavirus Disease 2019] COVID-19 is a once-in-a-century crisis. This plan commits to growing Canberra's economy and reaching a jobs target of more than 250,000 Canberrans in employment by 2025. To achieve this target the [Australian Capital Territory] ACT Government's strategy is to: Support businesses and the community through the immediate impacts of COVID-19 by investing more - now - in supporting the ACT economy, jobs, and delivering essential services; Deliver a $4 billion Infrastructure Investment Program over the next four years; Support businesses to start and grow through better regulation, and simplify interactions with Government through Access Canberra; Continue significant investment in skills development and education; Engage with industries that will create secure jobs in the future while maintaining high employment standards and rights; Maintain the community's confidence in Canberra's resilience by continuing to invest in our health response and public services

While the challenges we face are new, we will recover in a way that respects the Canberra community's values as a progressive city that pulls together to support those most in need by: Targeting support to industries, sectors and people most impacted by COVID-19 such as tourism, hospitality, the arts, part-time workers and young people; Continuing to grow Canberra as an inclusive city that continues to address inequality and disadvantage; Working together with business, the community and employee representatives to find solutions that work for everyone; Embedding our Wellbeing Framework into our policy frameworks to monitor, maintain and improve the personal wellbeing of all Canberrans; Continuing to reduce inequitable and inefficient taxes through a progressive tax reform program. The ACT Government will establish a Canberra Economic Recovery Advisory Group and The Local Business Commissioner will also continue to help local businesses access Government support.
