Abstract:

This report proposes an accreditation system for rural generalist education and training for the allied health professions in Australia. The term 'rural generalist' refers to an allied health professional that can respond to the broad range of healthcare needs of a rural or remote community. A common understanding of the capabilities and competencies developed in rural generalist education and training programs is required to allow health services to integrate the qualification into industrial instruments, employment models and business/commissioning processes.
