Abstract:

This paper outlines the history of the National Vocational Education and Training Clearinghouse, formerly the National TAFE Clearinghouse. The national clearinghouse was responsible for the collection, coordination and dissemination of vocational education and training (VET) information in Australia and the Asian/Pacific region. The paper covers the period 1974, when the clearinghouse was established, to 1989, when the Vocational Education and Training (VOCED) database was launched.
