This survey collects information about employers' use and views of the vocational education and training (VET) system and the various ways employers use the VET system to meet their skill needs. Information collected is designed to measure employers' engagement and satisfaction with the VET system. This survey collects information about employers' use and views of the vocational education and training (VET) system and the various ways employers use the VET system to meet their skill needs. Information collected is designed to measure employers' engagement and satisfaction with the VET system.
The highlights in relation to employers' use of the VET system in 2017, similar to 2015, are that: 54.4 per cent of employers used the VET system; 37.2 per cent of employers had jobs requiring vocational qualifications; 23.5 per cent of employers had apprentices and trainees; 22.4 per cent of employers used nationally recognised training (that was not part of an apprenticeship or traineeship).
The highlights in relation to employers' satisfaction with the VET system are that: 75.4 per cent of employers were satisfied that vocational qualifications provide employees with the skills they require for the job, similar to 2015; 77.5 per cent of employers were satisfied that apprentices and trainees are obtaining skills they require from training, down 4.2 percentage points from 2015; 82.2 per cent of employers were satisfied that nationally recognised training (which is not part of an apprenticeship or traineeship) provides employees with the skills they require for the job, similar to 2015.
