Abstract:

The Australian Competency Research Centre’s project ‘Identification and further integration of key competencies into the curriculum, delivery, assessment and reporting of apprenticeships’ is examining the best ways of integrating key competencies into existing training arrangements. That integration is crucial, given that the skills workers acquire must be transferable. This article’s author explains the relationship among transferable skills, key competencies, and course design and lists principles for incorporating key competencies into VET sector delivery and assessment arrangements.
