Equity blueprint 2011-2016: creating futures: achieving potential through VET

The 'Equity blueprint' was developed by the National VET Equity Advisory Council (NVEAC) through extensive consultation across Australia over 12 months. The 'Equity blueprint' was developed by the National VET Equity Advisory Council (NVEAC) through extensive consultation across Australia over 12 months. It provides a comprehensive analysis of the vocational education and training (VET) system from an equity perspective and sets out six key reform areas required to improve VET outcomes for disadvantaged learners over the next five years (2011-2016). The six areas of reform are: (1) adopting a sustainable investment approach to funding VET; (2) measuring and reporting performance in terms of how the system deals with those who experience disadvantage; (3) building the capability of the VET workforce; (4) embedding support for foundation skills development; (5) embedding pathway planning and partnerships as part of the VET system; and (6) listening to the voice of the learner when designing the VET system and continuously improving its services.
