Taiwan: higher education - expansion and equality of educational opportunity
Drawing on data derived from two social surveys conducted in 2000, this chapter looks at the possible effects of changes in the expansion of Taiwanese higher education on inequality between social strata, and between ethnic and gender groups in high school graduation and in access to tertiary education. The historical development of higher education and student transitions between levels of education in Taiwan are described.
