Background papers: setting priorities to improve vocational education and training outcomes for Indigenous people

This paper looks briefly at why training is important, how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders are currently represented in the education and training systems of Australia, and how an understanding of such issues may assist us in setting priorities for action. The paper goes on to describe three key points of strategic leverage: the National Strategy, the Profiles Process and the network of Industry Training Advisory Bodies.
