The Federation of Independent Aboriginal Education Providers Ltd (FIAEP), established in 1996 to represent the rights, needs and interests of Aboriginal community-controlled adult education, resolved at the end of 1996 to seek independent funding to allow it to do its own analysis of the extent to which the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody (RCIADIC) (indexed at TD/ERD 87.101) recommendations had been implemented in the policies and practices of Commonwealth, State and Territory agencies responsible for Aboriginal adult education.
