Abstract:

This overview of the implementation of a competency-based approach to training has been prepared to provide a snapshot of the present status of the new system. It has regard to the history of implementation, the impact of recent developments and barriers to effective implementation, and makes recommendations to the Vocational Education, Employment and Training Advisory Committee (VEETAC) on steps that could be taken to strengthen the process of implementing the new system. The project was sponsored by the VEETAC Working Party on the Implementation of Competency-Based Training.
