Evaluations of policies in relation to the national vocational education and training (VET) system represent an important element of developing responses to future policy directions. Evaluations provide the opportunity to examine the effectiveness and efficiency of different policy initiatives, and whether particular policy instruments remain appropriate in a rapidly changing policy environment. Evaluations are also an integral part of any quality assurance process. In the past, there has been numerous evaluation exercises conducted within States and Territories, at the local level as well as in areas for which Australian National Training Authority (ANTA) has authority. The results of evaluations have not been coordinated into a general national evaluation program and they have not been widely accessible. This report is the first step in the process to increase their accessibility. This cooperative approach is aimed at facilitating the development of a more comprehensive evaluation process in all aspects of the national VET system. This document outlines the objectives of the ANTA Evaluation Project, provides information about ANTA's major reviews and presents the results from completed evaluations, and those currently in progress. There are a number of appendices at the end of this document.
