Abstract:

This study was initiated in recognition of the rapid rise to prominence of the concept of markets in vocational education and training (VET) policy in Australia, and the need to take stock of the considerable body of literature which now exists on the topic. The report is based mainly on research studies, government reports, academic publications and conference and discussion papers. It reviews the main themes and issues covered in the literature and summarises the major conclusions and recommendations reached by each author. For conference paper, see TD/TNC 50.33 .
