UK highlights: global leadership forecast 2008-09: the typical, the elite and the forgotten

This survey report on the status of leadership and leadership development within the UK business community is produced jointly by CIPD and DDI. It draws on a larger study carried out by DDI: Global Leadership Forecast 2008/2009. The data presented here contrast the responses from human resources professionals and organisational leaders in the UK with their counterparts on the world stage. Topics covered include: general leadership issues - business priorities and quality of leaders; how UK organisations develop leadership skills and how well leadership programmes are executed; leadership development for high-potential employees; and multinational leaders. Key findings include that UK organisations lead the world in aligning leadership development programmes with business objectives but they fail to hold senior managers accountable for those programmes, are inconsistent in the way they implement them and do not measure their results.
