The Review of Government Service Provision, established in 1993 by heads of governments in Australia, provides information on the performance of government-funded social services in 14 service areas and incorporates a new general framework for performance indicators. It is presented in two volumes. Volume one contains: Introduction; Education; Justice; Emergency Management; and the CD-ROM attachment. Volume two contains: Health; Community Services; Housing; and Appendix A. The section on education covers the school and vocational education and training (VET) sectors. The chapter on VET focuses on the education and training system that delivers employment-related skills and reports on VET services that are delivered by providers receiving government funding. It includes the provision of vocational programs in TAFE institutes and universities with TAFE divisions, other government and community institutions, and publicly funded activity by private registered training organisations.
