This report reviews the current evidence on the impact of institutional financial support (such as bursaries, scholarships and fee waivers) on access to higher education and the experience of students within higher education study. Through looking at peer-reviewed and published research this report also considers evidence submitted in confidence to Nursaw Associates by universities and colleges of the effectiveness of their own financial support schemes. The goals of this report are to inform future research and provide the sector, and other interested parties, with a summary of findings around financial support to date, including research and evaluation carried out within individual institutions.
