A major research project has been conducted into the development of an assessment and reporting regime which can be used to capture an individual's performance of Key Competencies during work experience. The materials package developed for this assessment and reporting regime could be used to assess performances of the Key Competencies in other types of work placements, and it is also envisaged that there will remain numbers of students for whom an assessment of generic competencies would be appropriate. This publication details the research methodology, the development of an assessment and reporting instrument, the trial and evaluation of the Key Competencies Assessment Book (KEYCAB) and the key findings of the project.
