This report brings together a range of statistical information, from relevant ABS and other sources, relating to the situation and progress of women in Australia. It answers the demand for a social report focused specifically on women and on the issues identified by them as being of particular concern. Two guiding principles were followed for the report: first, that women's overall situation and progress should be measured against men's; and, second, that particular attention should be paid to those groups of women who may have special needs through circumstances of birth, cultural background, locality, age or family situation.
Of particular relevance to vocational education and training are the sections on education, work and income. A preliminary section presents a timetable of milestones for Australian women during the past 100 years. A glossary and appendices are included. Show less
