The literacy and numeracy teaching workforce need to have a pathway for post-graduate study. This article provides an overview of a new course, the Graduate Certificate of Social Science (Literacy and Numeracy Teaching in VET), offered by the Swinburne University of Technology, TAFE division. The first intake for the new course will be in February 2008. The article summarises the rationale for the development of the course in response to industry need.
