This document is another resource targeting trainers working in enterprises in the utilities, electrotechnology and lift industries. It aims to introduce the principles of Plain English and provides an outline of how to implement a Plain English policy for all communication in the workplace. Sections cover: - definitions of, and benefits of using plain English - planning and writing documents in plain English - planning, implementing and monitoring a plain English program in the workplace. The resource looks at the importance of identifying the purpose and audience of a written document, as well as the topic, organisation and layout and language choices. It also offers an action plan for the establishment of an enterprise wide Plain English policy including systems for maintaining and monitoring its use across the organisation.
