The hazards associated with the ancient trade of the farrier is the topic of this resource, and they should not be underestimated. The potential for accidents in a trade which involves working with large horses and hot metal, cannot not be overstated. This text relies on short, clear instructions, supported by photographs on all the stages involved in shoeing a horse, from approaching and tying up the horse, lifting the feet and using a forge and anvil, to put this message across. It also includes information on infections passed on from horses, dangerous chemicals used in the trade and appropriate clothing for the job.
