This volume, part 2, contains guidelines to assist businesses to develop and establish a competency based training and assessment system. The manual is directed at human resources managers and workplace trainers and assessors and is designed to ensure that any training undertaken is in line with national competency standards. The manual is divided into 3 sections. These are: - deciding on a competency-based training and assessment system - carrying out the training and assessment - helping people with low communication skills. The manual provides a step by step approach to implementing a competency based training system with clear explicit instructions and includes information on how an organisation can become a Registered Training Organisation. The section on helping people with low communication skills includes a range of suggestions on how to make spoken and written communication easier to understand, such as using diagrams and demonstrations to support spoken and written explanations, as well as advice on where to seek help with literacy and language training. The last section includes an appendix of acronyms, State and Territory Training Authorities and Industry Training Boards for quick reference.
