Implementing workplace training for warehouse workers at AQF levels 1 and 2, part 1: linking work activities to competency standards

This kit of two titles aims to assist workplace supervisors, trainers and assessors to implement the new Transport and Distribution Industries' Training Package, with particular attention to the language and literacy components of workplace learning. This volume, part 1, contains guidelines to assist businesses to understand and use the training package, and particularly focuses on the units of competence most frequently encountered in workplaces. The manual is directed at human resources managers and workplace trainers and assessors and is designed to ensure that the warehousing training package can be accessed, interpreted and applied, both to groups and to individual employees. The manual is divided into 4 sections. These are: - understanding competency-based training and the training package - analysing how work is done - matching work activities against competency units - checking the communcation skills involved in the competency units. Through these sections the manual provides a step by step approach to breaking down tasks, developing adequate work instructions and linking these to existing competency standards. The last section focuses on the embedded language and literacy in competency standards and gives an example of how to identify the language, literacy and numeracy requirments of a task. The manual also has an appendix which includes a list of useful resources.
