This workbook is one of a series developed by Kangan Batman TAFE in line with the National Competency Standards for Certificate II in Security (Guarding). It describes how to communicate with different people in the workplace. It aims to help learners : - follow supervisor's instructions - manage security information - write incident reports - talk with clients, customers and the public - give advice and assitance to clients, customers and the public. For each of these areas, there are short explanatory notes then brief writing or discussion activities. Answers are provided for self-assessment tasks. This title is one of a set of resources which aims to improve literacy and language levels in the narrow context of a security guard in the workplace, rather than the broader context of the participants' lives. The resources include glossaries of specialist language, the modelling and practice of a range of work-based forms of reading and writing, and the language-based appendices eg. 'A list of past tense words'.
