This resource has been developed to support the Extractive (Quarry) Industries Training Package and should be read in this context. It aims to provide information for assessors about language, literacy and numeracy issues in assessment. The resource also offers suggestions and checklists about how to address these issues when conducting assessments to ensure that assessments are valid, reliable and fair for all candidates. Sections cover: - identifying the language, literacy and numeracy tasks in the quarry operator competency standards, - where to find the language, literacy and numeracy tasks within the workplace, - strategies for dealing with individual concerns and/or anxieties, - communication strategies for assessment, - improving and evaluating the assessment process, - useful information, contacts and further reading.
