This paper deals with the issue of fees for vocational education and training (VET) in Western Australia (WA). It explores the prospect of ‘fee’ elasticity and the students’ capacity to pay as well as the efficiency of VET participation. It explores ‘what is known with some certainty’ from ‘what is probably known’ and ‘what remains to be known’. It concludes that the State Government should employ a probabilistic and relative approach to coordinating information when establishing a policy for VET fees.
