The creative age

The emergence of a knowledge-based economy poses fundamental new challenges for working life and the skills needed to thrive in it. Creativity - the application of knowledge and skills in new ways to achieve valued outcomes - is becoming a defining characteristic of success for both individuals and organisations. This presentation examines the pressures facing organisations, the results of research on the factors supporting creativity in different sectors and countries, and the educational challenges posed by a different economic and social environment. It concludes with ideas for educational restructuring and reform to create the foundations of successful knowledge-based societies.
