The training plan for the Retail, Wholesale and Associated Services Industry IETC was constructed for the purpose of determining the training needs of the retail industry. An overview of the retail sector gives information primarily on the number, type and the mobility of the labour involved. Generally speaking, the high cost of labour impedes growth. Future market predictions focus on the areas where growth can occur. Implications of the current structure of the industry and market predictions are discussed.
