Improved apprentice and trainee selection for small business

The report outlines the project work undertaken by the Office of Employment, Training and Tertiary Education (ETTE) to facilitate a discernible improvement in the selection processes of trainees and apprentices by small business resulting in better training and completion rates. The report provides a literature survey of current knowledge about small business operations and their recruitment practices. Based on a research survey and focus group meetings with small business, it provides a recruitment tool for small business in the form of a ten tips booklet suitable for use in paper based and web based format. It also provides a list of strategies for dissemination of the materials to small business employers.
