In October 2000, the Victorian Government set challenging goals and targets for education and training across the state. The Department of Education, Employment and Training (DEET) has identified a range of issues and options associated with achieving the goals and targets. These are outlined in this discussion paper. A series of public consultations have also been planned that will feed into a final report to Government late 2001 on the short, medium and long-term strategies to achieve the goals and targets, associated advice on resources and the process for measuring and reporting on progress towards them.
