Victorian EdNA trials in online learning and student management approaches in the vocational education and training sector: research report

This report is part of the response of the Office of Training and Further Education (OTFE) to the Australian National Training Authority (ANTA) 1995 Flexible Learning Funds which proposed a series of small trials of learning and student management approaches to develop capacity for the short term implementation of Education Network Australia (EdNA). Seventeen individual trial projects were selected throughout Victoria and the contents of this report are the outcomes of interviews with project managers, documentation made available by project managers, papers prepared by managers for conferences and course outlines. On-line materials associated with several of the projects have also been viewed. This report summarises project outcomes, provides an assessment of the issues associated with the educational effectiveness and support infrastructure requirements for the specific technologies used, and draws on information derived from these projects to comment on the requirements for mainstreaming the delivery of training online and some of the barriers to this process.
