This report was commissioned and partly funded by the Finance and Administration Industry Training Advisory Board (FAITAB). The research which underpins this report had, as a simple premise, the belief that the skills, qualifications and attributes that employers cite in public job advertisements are those which are of critical importance to them and their businesses. The corollary is also that employees, or prospective employees will have most success in securing a job they seek if they can demonstrate those qualities and skills which are sought. The vocational education and training (VET) system has a role to play in equipping prospective employees with this skill and experience and in delivering to industry workers with the 'right' set of skills to do the job which is required today.
