This chapter looks at the research related to the effectiveness of career guidance programs with an emphasis on evaluating different types of interventions. The first part of the chapter examines the overall effectiveness of career guidance interventions and programs and provides a summary of some research into career outcomes from different countries. The authors also discuss the effectiveness of different program methods, e.g. individual, group or career course) and computer or internet-based systems. The chapter concludes with recommendations for further research and evaluative studies and suggestions as to how practitioners can work with researchers to enhance the overall quality of the evaluation of career guidance programs.
