Using longitudinal methodology in career guidance research

Vocational psychology and career guidance have been criticised for their underuse of longitudinal methodology. In response to this criticism, this chapter discusses the use of longitudinal methodology in career guidance research, using a conceptual framework from the field of developmental psychology to address practical and theoretical issues. Further methodological issues in designing longitudinal studies are also discussed, including approaches to gathering longitudinal data. Examples are used to illustrate the application of the framework to career guidance research.
