Researching ourselves: a participatory exploration of the impact of a learning intervention for women returners

Career Action for Women (CAW) was a program of higher education (HE) level one accredited courses aimed at women returners. It was designed to facilitate access to learning by offering local and flexible provision, and to enable participants to make informed choices about future career and study options by embedding ongoing support and guidance within a responsive curriculum. A research strand was embedded within the project in order to assess its impact and inform continuing curriculum development and the widening participation (WP) strategy. 'Researching ourselves' has indicated key features in the success of the CAW program and has been instrumental in promoting and embedding these features within a participatory context.
