The public benefits of Australian career development services: towards a national research strategy

This paper develops a case for a national research strategy on the public benefits of career development services and on the relationship between career development services and public policy. It is now being recognised that career development can be a key tool in lifelong learning and labour market and equity policies as well as contributing to the improvement of education systems and labour markets. The paper reviews the current state of career development research in Australia and outlines the key elements of a national strategy.
