This chapter looks at sustainability covenants, which are voluntary statutory agreements between the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Victoria and a company, an organisation, a group of companies or an industry sector, can explore new and creative ways of reducing the environmental impact and increasing the resource efficiency of their products and services. The chapter focuses on a specific sustainability covenant, that between the EPA and Kangan Batman TAFE College (KBT), enabling KBT to demonstrate sustainability leadership in the vocational education and training (VET) sector. The chapter discusses the value of the sustainability covenant to KBT, looking at both the immediate challenge (achievement of declared objectives) and the long term challenge (to realise KBT's mission to be the 'learning partner of choice').
