This chapter seeks to highlight some of the successes of the school enterprise model in interlinking production with learning. It examines the issue of school enterprises as part of a larger educational project, influenced by the social and economic climate and policy discourse. It then describes the conceptual framework, suggesting that it is useful for analysing differences in the effectiveness of school enterprises. The features of school enterprises are identified. Finally, the chapter discusses factors that might enhance the school enterprise environment and some of the basic principles which need to be borne in mind when setting up school enterprises.
