Becoming a strategic leader: lessons from further education

This paper builds on a large scale research project undertaken for the Centre for Excellence in Leadership (CEL) which has focused attention on the practices and processes that shape strategizing within the UK further education (FE) sector. Drawing on data collected through in-depth interviews with over 90 leaders in 29 colleges, the paper illuminates the mechanisms and processes that current leaders in the sector have identified as critical in the development of strategizing practices.
