College governors: some emerging themes

This research is an investigation into the under-representation of black and minority ethnic (BME) governors in further education colleges [in the UK]. This research is guided by the following questions: What are the impediments to the appointment and retention of BME governors? What are the drivers for colleges in recruiting members from under-represented groups? What might constitute 'best practice' in recruiting and retaining BME governors? What are the effects of recruitment policies for BME governors? What are the experiences of BME governors within colleges?
