The Japan Institute for Labour Policy and Training (JILPT) organized a workshop focusing on youth transition support in February 2007, to learn from experiences of some of the developed countries that are implementing advanced youth transition policies and to attempt to draw some policy implications through comparative discussion. In this workshop, academicians and experts from the US, the UK, France, Sweden, Australia, Korea and Japan each reported the current situation of the youth employment and transition support in their respective country and discussed the following subthemes: (1) enhancing the career education functions of the secondary education institutions, etc.; (2) promotion of employment and training in enterprises; and (3) social support - holistic support and transitional labor market policies. This report contains the papers presented in the workshop.
