Many researchers see the lack of face-to-face interaction in e-learning as one of its major disadvantages. This paper tries to describe one of the probable negative effects on knowledge creation and transfer if face-to-face interaction is missing during e-learning activity and a true instructional design is not employed to erase these negative effects. The main question is whether or not learners are able to gain both tacit and explicit knowledge in e-learning environments.
