The remoteness of the Northern Pacific region presents significant challenges to providing quality interactive distance education. These geographic, economic, cultural, linguistic, professional, and technological challenges require creativity and flexibility in the design of courses and in the selection of instructional methods. This paper explores the experience of a group of educators in providing distance learning opportunities throughout this region for nine years, from 1997-2006.
