The Interagency Aerospace Revitalization Task Force was established in 2007 to develop a strategy to address the unique and ongoing workforce challenges currently facing the aerospace industry in the USA. This report is the first of five annual reports released to Congress. It contains the findings and recommendations from the Task Force's first year of activity. The contents are presented in four sections: the first section, 'About the Task Force' outlines the organisation and objectives of the Task Force and provides a choronological listing of its activities; section two, 'The industry and its workforce challenges', provides background and discusses recruitment and retention, the skills challenge and the importance of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education, and the image of the aerospace industry; section three, 'Task Force strategies', looks at the strategies for addressing these challenges; and the final section, Strategies into action in 2008', discusses the implementation of specific strategies in 2008. Included as appendices are: Public law 109-420 establishing the Interagency Task Force; Task Force roundtable summary; Aerospace employment center map.
