TAFE and its origins

The first paper in this volume, ‘TAFE and its origins’ has as its intent to highlight what was before the 1974 ‘Kangan Report’ (indexed at TD/LMR 85.637), to consider what has happened since 1974 and to suggest what may be the future, for technical and further education in Australia. The second paper, ‘Non-vocational adult education’, is a preliminary report on studies conducted during the 1982 National Conference of AAAE (Australian Association of Adult Education) and in conjunction with the Special Interest Group on Non-Vocational Adult Education. The studies reviewed non-vocational adult education and considered future objectives, options and developments in this education sector.
