Indicators for quality in VET: to enhance European cooperation

Over the past two decades there has been a growing awareness of the importance of vocational education and training (VET). A number of tools and indicators now exist to measure the quality of VET in Europe, although this paper argues that such measures are not comprehensive across different levels of the VET system throughout European member states. A working group was formed to attempt to develop a set of coherent quality indicators for VET at all levels. This paper outlines the collection of indicators, their analysis, and the development of a conceptual framework for a system of indicators to enhance quality assurance in VET, and suggesting proposals for the promotion of European awareness and cooperation in this process.
