The Overseas Qualifications Unit (OQU) assists overseas trained people to gain suitable recognition of their qualifications and skills in Western Australia. The OQU has commissioned this study with the aim of developing a closer relationship between it and the Industry Training Councils' (ITC) network of 14 industry-based associations. The study explores the nature and extent of industry coverage of the ITCs and their level of involvement in skills recognition projects and processes. The terms of reference and the methodology used are detailed in the first chapter. Chapters 2-4 focus on the ITC network including industry and occupational coverage, ITC consultations and responses, and the role of ITCs in skill recognition. Chapter 5 includes a general discussion about the OQU fostering closer links with ITCs and six recommendations.
