New directions for community colleges, no. 138, Summer 2007

This issue, entitled 'International reform efforts and challenges in community colleges' and edited by Edward J. Valeau and Rosalind Latiner Raby, explores issues relating to community college international education, documenting outstanding programs and discussing strategies for strengthening internationalization efforts. It is suggested that, combined, the articles show it is critical to understand the variables that make internationalization an essential component of community colleges as well as the obstacles that prevent institutionalization from occuring. Also suggested is that what emerges from this collection is a blueprint to help develop new programs, establish leadership training and secure institutional support.
