This paper provides a summary of outcomes, policy advice and recommendations arising from the Second Annual Indigenous Higher Education Conference (IHEAC) held in Perth in September 2006. The conference focused on identifying the strategies, policies and practices that have proven to be effective in improving Indigenous higher education outcomes. Some of the recommendations include an investigation of the financial position of Indigenous students, their experience as first year students at universities and other higher education and vocational education and training (VET) institutions, stronger leadership from Vice-Chancellors, and the establishment of a national Indigenous higher education website.
