This is the final report of a review of the two following interrelated topics: Aboriginal post-secondary education programs, services and strategies/best practices in British Columbia; and the Ministry of Advanced Education's Aboriginal Special Projects Funding (ASPF) program. The review was commissioned to inform both the Ministry and post-secondary institutions in British Columbia about the status of Aboriginal post-secondary education and the Ministry's approach to ASPF. Aboriginal post-secondary education within this review project includes 'Aboriginal-specific' programs, courses and services within British Columbia's post-secondary institutions, including private institutions that receive funding from the Ministry for such programs and special initiatives funded by the Ministry. The report summarises the research findings within the following topic areas: Aboriginal Special Projects Fund; Aboriginal post-secondary education programs and courses; Aboriginal post-secondary education policies and strategies; effective Aboriginal post-secondary education practices; Aboriginal post-secondary education support services; and Aboriginal post-secondary education funding sources and challenges. Challenges, gaps and barriers are identified at the end of each topic section. The report also includes the findings of a literature review. The report concludes with recommendations organised into two groups: those relating to the broader Aboriginal post-secondary education issues; and those relating to the ASPF.
